Krause Estate Planning & Elder Law Center is pleased to welcome Michael T. Newman, J.D., to the firm as Legal Services Manager and attorney beginning September 29, 2026.
Michael brings more than three decades of legal experience, including an extensive career with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of General Counsel. During his time with the VA, he held several senior legal and leadership positions and ultimately served as Chief Counsel for the Torts Law Group.
Before joining the VA in 1992, Michael served as a judicial clerk with the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. His career has included significant experience in litigation, legal management, federal claims, and government service.
Michael also served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1997 to 2008, including a one-year mobilization in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
A Wisconsin-licensed attorney, Michael earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse.
