Michael T. Newman brings more than three decades of legal experience, leadership, and public service to Krause Estate Planning & Elder Law Center. Before joining the firm, Mike served as Chief Counsel for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Torts Law Group, leading attorneys and legal professionals responsible for complex nationwide litigation and claims matters. Over his distinguished career with the VA, he held a variety of leadership positions and earned a reputation for sound judgment, client service, and practical problem-solving.  

In addition to his VA legal career, Mike served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps, including a mobilization in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. As a JAG Corps officer, Mike developed extensive experience in estate planning and estate document drafting, 

Mike is excited to focus his experience on helping individuals and families create thoughtful estate plans that protect what matters most. He is passionate about helping clients gain peace of mind, preserve their legacies, and navigate important life decisions with confidence. His extensive background serving military servicemembers and Veterans and their families provides a unique perspective on service, advocacy, and long-term planning. 

A Milwaukee-area native, Mike is active in his neighborhood association, church, and the Wauwatosa Veterans Memorial Committee. Outside of work, he enjoys biking, basketball, and tennis. Mike and his wife have been married for 37 years and are proud parents of one son.
